Flowers for Every Season Suite

Long before it was a Covid-19 thing, stampers were masking - in a fun way!

Crafters make masking cool and I'm excited to share this simple and useful stamping technique with you. This card also features several new products from the gorgeous Flowers For Every Season Suite.

Masking is a simple technique that blocks off areas of a project to create white space. It can create a faux layering effect or highlight an area for a greeting or focal point. Masking can be loose and artsy with torn edges or precise straight lines or shapes depending on what you use to create your mask.

This tutorial creates an beautifully detailed card perfect for Valentine's Day or an anniversary. The subtle details of pattern, shimmer, and texture combine to make a special card that you need to create and see in person to truly appreciate!

Are you ready for some creative inspiration? Here is the January card layout!

Pick a card template, stamp set, coordinating Designer Series Paper or cardstock layers, and some embellishments and you'll have what you need to start creating something wonderful. From clean and simple to "wow" - it can all get started with a card template!

Little Changes, Big Impact

 

Basic To create this lovely, heartfelt card, use a Stamparatus to line up the floral images from the Back to Back Blooms Stamp Set, then stamp them in Bumblebee and Mint Macaron ink on a Basic White Cardstock layer. (We overlapped the stamping onto the Mint Macaron Cardstock card base for some extra sophistication and prettiness!) Stamp the sentiment from the Heal Your Heart Stamp Set in Mint Macaron and Misty Moonlight ink on the Basic White Cardstock label. Finally, adhere the label to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Done! You have an elegant thank you card ready to send in no time at all!

Step up Step up the second card by adding a lacy edge to the Basic White layer using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. This additional step takes about a minute and instantly enhances the card’s beauty. Once that’s finished, adhere fussy-cut flowers from the Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper to the front of the card to create a gorgeous, full bouquet. A sprinkling of Opal Rounds completes the look. Tip: Use your Stamparatus to stamp the line art images first. Then, clean the stamp and position it to stamp the solid floral image. (Stamp off the solid image before stamping on the project.)

Stepped Up For our fanciest card, we fussy cut the stamped images and adhered an additional layer of Designer Series Paper to the card front. We also die cut the label using the Stitched Nested Label Dies and then—for a final touch—stamped the sentiment on Soft Sea Foam Cardstock. Isn’t it stunning? Sometimes the smallest details can make all the difference in your papercrafting!

The detailed images are timeless and work with a variety of styles from rustic to modern. Use them alone for quick and simple cards or add the dies and coordinating embellishments to really create that wow effect.

Card Tutorial ~ In Bloom Bundle

YOU MEAN SO MUCH CARD

4-1/4" x 5-1/2" (10.5 x 14.9 cm)

1. Rub the Soft Sea Foam Classic Stampin’ Pad over one piece of 2" x 2" (5.1 x 5.1 cm) Very Vanilla Cardstock, and the Petal Pink Classic Stampin’ Pad on the other piece of 2" x 2" (5.1 x 5.1 cm) Very Vanilla Cardstock. Rub the smallest piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock (1" x 1"; 2.5 x 2.5 cm) with Soft Suede ink. Die-cut the flower pieces from the inked cardstock.

2. Stamp the sentiment on another piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock (2-1/2" x 1-3/4"; 6.4 x 4.4 cm) and die-cut.

3. Stamp background flowers on the last piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock (3" x 4-1/2"; 7.6 x 11.4 cm) in Balmy Blue, Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam, and Soft Suede ink.

4. Fold the Balmy Blue Cardstock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; 21 x 14.9 cm) in half to create the card base.

5. Adhere the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper (4" x 3-1/4"; 10.2 x 8.3 cm) to the card front.

6. Snip the ends of the ribbon. Fold the ribbon in half and adhere to the back of the sentiment piece. Adhere to stamped Very Vanilla Cardstock using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

7. Layer flower pieces and adhere next to the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere entire piece to the card.

Peony Garden Suite

Some images are timeless and endure through the changes of years and styles. The Peony Garden Suite is a perfect example of timeless elegance. From simple stamping to over-the-top, this suite covers all the bases. Use traditional colours, stamping and die-cutting to create a peony that looks like it came right out of grandma's garden or create a simple modern, monochrome look with the flower stamped in a neutral colour on Whisper White. I think you'll find yourself reaching for this suite for many occasions.

TIPS:
Create depth and shading in watercoloring by painting on a light wash layer and then adding light layers of colour to the area you want darker. Allow the paper to dry a bit between layers so it can absorb more ink, but not completely to avoid harsh lines.
